Our Support Process

The Care Journey

Every cleft journey is unique. From diagnosis before birth to adulthood, our service provides continuous, joined-up care so that the individual receives the right support at the right time.

01

Diagnosis

If a cleft is found at the 20-week scan, the family meets a nurse who explains, supports, prepares for feeding, and connects them.

02

Feeding

Our cleft nurses help families choose feeding methods, provide specialist bottles, offer one-to-one support, and answer questions to help baby thrive.

03

Surgery

Most babies have lip repair at 3–6 months and palate repair at 9–13 months, with ongoing monitoring to support healthy development.

04

Growing Up

As the child grows, our team regularly reviews progress at key ages, provides therapy, dental, and hearing support, and helps prepare for the transition to adult services.
