Clinical Nurse Specialist

A clinical nurse specialist (CNS) is a nurse who is specialised in caring for babies and children born with a cleft lip and / or palate. The CNS aims to provide a responsive and proactive service to families throughout the treatment pathway by providing support, information, and advice to their families. They are likely to be the first member of the Northwest cleft team that you will talk to if you have a baby diagnosed with a cleft lip and / or palate.

This service is available to all families living within the Northwest, North Wales and Isle of Man network, and aims to empower patients and families to be equal partners in their care. The nursing service works to the National Cleft nursing guidelines.
